How to Help

M.O.R.E. is a U.S. based, 501c(3) grassroots non-profit charitable organization completely run by volunteers with no paid administrative staff.

Fundraising

The primary method of raising money for M.O.R.E. is through fundraising events, individual contributions, corporate "matching gift" participation, group donations, and grants.


If you are interested in hosting a fund raising event such as a "house party", golf outing, 5K Run, or other event, please contact us so we can provide support and assistance where possible.


How Donations are Utilized

All donations are used in support of our mission to provide financial support and underwrite program services to orphaned and vulnerable children and youth in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia through the OVC and OVY programs of the Medhen Social Center. 

97.4% of every dollar raised goes directly to support these programs.


What $421 Can Do

A donation to M.O.R.E. of $421 will feed, clothe, provide educational assistance, and supply basic medical care for one orphaned or vulnerable child / youth for one year. However, no donation is too small. All donations are graciously accepted.

GIFTS OF CASH
Personal checks and credit card payments are two of the most popular ways to make a gift to M.O.R.E.

You can give securely with your credit card online here via Paypal or here via Venmo. Our online form allows for one-time gifts or automatic recurring gifts. 

GIFT IN HONOR OR MEMORY OF

Gifts in honor or memory of a favorite person are a great way to support M.O.R.E. Donate via PayPal with a note to include the name and address of the recipient, along with what is being commemorated. An acknowledgement card will be mailed to the recipient.


CORPORATE MATCHING GIFTS

Matching gifts are a great way to significantly increase your level of support to M.O.R.E. Many corporations will match employees' or their spouses' gifts to charitable organizations. For example, if you donate $5,000 to M.O.R.E., your employer may be willing to match your generosity and you will be credited with a $10,000 gift. Contact your human resources department to learn about your company's matching gift policies and procedures. Contact Bob Holland, Treasurer, if you need assistance with forms or need specific information to provide to your employer.


GIFTS OF SECURITIES

Gifts of securities provide very attractive tax advantages. Capital gains taxes are avoided and the full market value of the stock can be tax-deductible.


Are you interested in making a charitable gift that may yield double tax benefits and additional savings? If so, a gift of appreciated stock may be the right option for you. A gift of stock may provide more benefits than a cash gift. When you make a gift of stock to M.O.R.E., by eliminating the capital gains tax that would be due upon selling the stock, you receive tangible tax-savings and benefits while also supporting our humanitarian mission.


A gift of stock may be right for you if:

  • You are holding stocks that have risen in value. If your stocks are highly appreciated, you may find yourself with a hefty tax bill when it comes time to sell. By using these securities as a gift, you can avoid the capital gains tax on any paper profit.
  • You would like to maximize your deduction while not affecting your liquidity. If you decide to make a gift of stock, you not only retain your cash assets, but you also receive a charitable tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock that you've owned for more than one year.

Facebook fundraisers are a great way to engage your network of friends and family in support of M.O.R.E. To create a Facebook fundraiser in support of M.O.R.E. - in honor of your birthday, a special occasion, or just because - click here and follow the prompts to "Raise Money" which will allow you to search non-profits and choose Medhen Orphan Relief Effort as the beneficiary of your fundraiser.


You may also make a direct contribution to M.O.R.E. using the "Donate" button on the upper right side of our profile page. Giving through Facebook saves M.O.R.E. money because Facebook does not charge any credit card processing fees.
